Petitions, Reviews and Things

The petition to get QI shown in the USA by BBC America is now approaching its second big milestone; 2000 signatures. It has already surpassed the number of signatures that succeeded in getting the first DVD released but many more will be needed to convince a network in the USA. Please do keep encouraging your friends and fellow fans of the show to put their names forward in support.

Also, if you have yet to buy it, the QI Annual 2008 went on sale yesterday. There's a review on the way from MinervaMoon next week (QI Fanatic receives a name-check in the book so it wouldn't be proper to have an even more biased review than normal). Click Here to order your copy from Amazon.co.uk for just £7.79!

There will be more reviews on the way soon. QI Fanatic is currently digesting Justin Pollard's The Interesting Bits: The History you Might have Missed with a review sure to follow. Click Here to buy your own copy. Don't forget that the Interactive DVD will be released on the 26th November so the Quite Interesting Blog will soon be buried in reviews. Pre-Order Here (make sure you watch Stephen's little advert if nothing else). If you think you're missing any QI goodies, go to this new list on amazon.

Facebook users will be pleased to know that QI's Rolling News widget (which you can view in this blog's side bar) is now available as a facebook application. It's already received nearly 450 subscriptions so it is well worth adding. Click Here.

Finally, blogger has a nice new feature which will allow you to receive email notification when posts are commented on after you have made a comment - a particularly useful feature if you have a question to ask. There should be a small box you can tick when you open the comments page.

QI Blog EXCLUSIVE and More News

Next Friday (28th September) you will be able to read an EXCLUSIVE advance review of the new QI Book; The Book of Animal Ignorance. The review will include some brief extracts. The book will be published on Thursday 4th October. Pre-order here.

Also, from this Sunday you'll be able to read a review of this week's episode of QI. Since the show will have been broadcast (twice including Saturday repeat) there wont be any whited out text for the spoilers.

Don't forget to watch episode one (E01) of QI tonight on BBC2 at 22:00 and episode 2 (E02) on BBC4 at 22:30. Following the show you'll be able to watch the QI Vodcast on the BBC website.

(Note: this is the fourth post today, read on for more news)

Another Exclusive Tomorrow

We really are spoiling you lot. Tomorrow Eggshaped will return to tell you just what the elves are up to behind the scenes at the recordings. He'll reveal everything from the Afternoon's research and the warm ups to the factoids on the screens and the frantic googling during the show.

Come back soon for another exclusive!

Coming Soon!!!

First of all, apologies for the relative lack of posts on the blog in the last couple of weeks. I've been busy sorting out some treats for you all.

Tomorrow is the first recording of the E series of QI at the London Studios. To celebrate the blog will host an exclusive look at the work on the new Interactive DVD that will be released this autumn. All of it will be brought to you by one of QI's newest recruits.

Also, me and Andrew will be writing reviews of all the recordings. As things stand, I will be reviewing tomorrow's recording and Andrew will be reviewing Friday's show (Bill Bailey is confirmed as a guest for that one). Next week I'll be able to make both recordings. I am very excited about next Friday since I will be going as a production guest (so the review will include my experiences in the green room).

Meanwhile, watch out for QI's daily telegraph column (as always I'll post a link as soon as it is added to the website).

All in all, it's going to be a pretty exciting month as far as QI goes.

Some Quite Interesting Widgets

As some of you may already know, you can get my blog in widget form. It's a nice graphic that fits snugly into your website's sidebar with links to the posts on this blog. It updates automatically. Now you can also get a widget that will display an updated list of Rolling News stories on your website from QI.

I've already added one in my left hand sidebar (doesn't it look nice). If you would like a widget just like it for your own website/blog go here. You can even change the style to fit your own website. All that you need to do is click "get this widget" (register if you are not already), add it to a panel and then install that panel on your page. If you're using blogger (like me) you wont even need to copy and paste any code.

If you want to get the widget that displays links to posts on this website then go here and follow the same steps described above.

A Quick Welcome to Andrew

Welcome to Andrew, a new author on the blog. Andrew is a QI veteran having watched all of the episodes in the D series being recorded as well as a significant proportion of the C series.

Andrew will be writing up some reviews of the forthcoming E series recordings (the ones that I'm not able to see).

Some Quite Interesting Additions

I've been playing about with the blog today, so there are some nice new features that you might want to take notice of.

One is the list of YouTube videos in the sidebar. This replaces the previous list that linked to the videos of QI on YouTube. These new ones will now play on this blog (they will open at the top of the page).

I've also added a list of the recording dates during May/June for QI series E. Plus if you look at the very bottom of the page there are now TV listings for QI. QI isn't showing on any of the BBC channels at the moment but it is running on UKTV Gold 2 (and does so nearly all of the time since UKTV own the rights to repeat each series 12 times!!!) so I will aim to update that list fairly regularly. Don't be afraid to post a comment reminding me to update it if I forget.

Otherwise please do add your comments about the changes I've made. I'm particularly interested in comments concerning any problems with the format (please specify your browser). There have been some problems with the site for those using firefox today. Thank you to WordLover for helping me to correct them.
